Hi all,this piece has a broken pontil and is about 8" high with a plant like decoration in relief,on the foot ring is what i take to be very fine gold lettering,maybe a T and then a sort of long flat u,but someones nicked my magnifying glass again!!the texture is matt if that's any help,anyone have any ideas,many thanks

Looks like something decorated with heather in Bohemia for the Scottish souvenir market. A picture of the mark would be good.

Does look like heather,i'll try and get a photo of the mark,but it may not be anything much as under closer inspection there are faint lines of gold here and there all over it!? the marks on the foot ring being the strongest.

Dolhain Wirths - from Belgium. They made souvenirs in the 1930s - I have one from Whitley Bay with white heather, others from Chamonix and Germany. Usually fully stamped on the underside.

Thanks Ivo,was the signature in gold?i think i've got faint hints of it.

black. Gold was only used for finishing edges.
