Hi all,i really like this 8.5 cm little enamelled jug what ever it is.I don't know if the photo's show the gold brush work,but it's there around the flowers and just a hint on the rim,the rim is very roughly finished and at one point i thought was damaged but on a closer inspection i think that's how it was when made,it feels like it's old but the handle might bring it back a bit,i would say mould blown with a broken pontil size of a much larger piece! any thoughts ,many thanks.

Hi, from the style and shape, and the type of decoration I would say late Victorian. I've had a number go through my hands and have a not dissimilar one in blue at the moment which I will try to dig up and put up here.

I'd think that Neil is more or less correct - green seems to have been the most popular colour for these things, and they were decorated often with some sort of enamel paint (sometimes gilded which from memory was applied by means of a transfer) - but the enamel was often in some form of stylized floral effect, and often applied in the form of dots.
This one looks unusual in the sense that it appears to have some kind of applied welt around the main foot rim - does that make sense?

Probably made in a variety of places in Europe, and mostly seem unrefined.

Thanks for the replies,the foot and the pontil do seem oversized for it,but on small things you seem to be able to get away with it and in a way makes the piece more self contained and charming.It may have been his millionth piece before a litre of larger but for me it's all the better for it.
