Title: striped vase and bird. ID = Chinese

Hi, any help identifying these two pieces would be greatly appreciated. The vase stands 31cm high has black and white stripes and no makers marks whatsoever as far as i can see, the bird is about 13cm high with dark purple and white stripes and is also unmarked. Sorry for the yellow light nighttime here in New Zealand.

I believe these are made in China; they are rampant in  "antique" centres in the UK. Are the bases matte?

Sold in the last couple of years in TK Maxx and no doubt elsewhere too. Christine is correct, they are made in China, various animal shapes and vases abound.
