Title: Early 20th century (?) green vase with random "zig-zag" pattern
Post by: rocco on April 05, 2014, 04:24:39 PM
I would think an early 20th century piece, "Bohemian" region is my first thought.
Stands 14 cm tall, no iridescence.
Mould blown, optical ribbing, applied opaque red and white zig zag decor which seems to follow the ribbing.
I don't really know how this was technically achieved (I attach a pic with backlight to show it better).

The only thing vaguely similar was this vase attributed to Rindskopf >> Link (http://www.rubylane.com/item/630859-sl00673/Tall-Rindskopf-Vase-Unusual-Twisted)

Thanks for any help!

Very interesting piece of glass. I would agree Bohemian, but at a loss as to the house. I have not seen one like this before.....

Here is another similar zig-zag style decor... maker unknown....

Most of us do....  :-)

Your example is one of the more interesting I have seen in a while....

Yes, that is why I bought it -- quite a distinctive technique...

Thanks,

What I find really interesting about it, aside from the kind of unique appearing color combination, is that it appears to be without an exterior casing of clear, which gives the décor a completely different look.....

Thanks for the hint, Craig.
I checked the rim, and there is definately only the green layer, on which the red and white pattern is applied (and then manipulated in a way I don't really understand).
The rim is polished and bevelled in- and outside, forgot to mention that.
