Title: Red Winged Glass Sculpture - any ideas?
Post by: Ginarosa on April 09, 2014, 07:47:41 PM
Hi lovely glass people - can anyone help me identify this large, heavy sculpture?  I'm new to this so not very good with descriptions sorry, but it has a darker red centre encased within lighter, orangey red glass and measures 22cm high by 27cm across.  thanks!

Welcome to GMB.

There is another topic where these pieces are discussed, but I have no idea where it is. I think Christine (lustrousstone) will know.

Not certain if that is the same sort of shaped glass David,  they look more akin to pieces of Chalet Glass, whereas this seems to have a Scandinavian influence... I do like it very much Ginarosa.

I seem to remember that the first piece to feature a Davidson label (found by Wayne, if memory serves me correct) was the red/orange variety. The assumption was that Davidson may have imported these. I have a few and they are definitely not Chalet.

BTW, if you shine a UV lamp onto the glass, it should glow pink indicating the presence of selenium.
