Title: Green pressed glass jug with pontil mark help please
Post by: brucebanner on April 14, 2014, 01:13:07 PM
Hello there, i know this is not the most exciting piece of glass on the planet but it's something i have never come across before and i'm wondering if it has some age to it. It appears to be mould blown or pressed as it has two seam marks, there is a rough pontil on the base and a separate applied handle that is not moulded and a real dirty piece of glass with a few inclusions, any help welcome please.

It's 4 1/2 inches in height 3 1/4 inches across the base and 3 inches across the rim

It's mould blown. You can't press something wider at the bottom than the top, as you can't get the plunger out.

Hi, is that a fold over rim to the top of the jug?  I can't see from the picture if it is folded inwards or outwards.  The jug is in the form of a turn of the 18C/19C cream jug with an applied handle, but I have never seen one with the surface effect that you show, or with a mould line.

Thanks Christine i should have remembered that from other posts, the top is folded over and at the front of the jug the mould lines do not match up almost like there is a third one i'll try and show this in the second picture, thanks Neil for your input.
