Title: ID help please on blue glass vase
Post by: vanmann on April 23, 2014, 01:16:36 PM
Sorry to be vague in title but I have no idea on this vase at all.  27 cms tall and weighing 1200 gramms this is a good size piece. It has a very dark slightly irridescant  finish over dark blue glass. Flat ground base (with chip!). I would be grateful for any suggestions at all that point me in right direction as to origin, date etc, Seems to be be quite well  made, but I guess could just as easily be TK Maxx!! Thanks John

The 'chip' in the base might be where the pontil mark could not be totally removed without reducing the base too much. So it was ground and polished flat but still has the remains of the pontil scar in it.
I have quite a few like this and have seen many more.

Hi,
does it look like there is any wear on the base?
I nearly bought one - but restrained myself, since then I keep seeing these vases everwhere all in the same shape but with different colours, mottles, patterns etc.
A lot of them look really quite interesting but I have a suspicion they might be new!
