It's no wonder ebayers try it on when even auction houses do this

I have emailed them, lets see if they change it! A few more emails might help convince them.
Lately it seems that paperweights are fair game in the auction world, they wouldn't do it with a painting or some other high value item but it seems at the moment with some auction houses to be a case of :-
"We don't know so lets name it as by antique French factory, or not check that its not fake and just give it a definite attribution"

£20 to £40 for a clichy, wow its very much like my cleeeeeechy. Whatever is going on, did someone put clichy instead of cheeky.
-
Hi Nick, also e mailed them with regard to your post but as yet no reply SHAME ON THEM

Wow. :o I also messaged them.

For what it is worth so have I- really bad and ill informed auction information- regards from Carol having a lovely autumn day here in New Zealand.

It's a very provincial auction and I seriously doubt they have any "experts" there. It's probably what the owner told them. They are also unlikely to have anyone working on a weekend. There are numerous dealers all over the country with their Chinese paperweights safely locked in the "valuables" cabinets with silly prices on, so they are no worse than them.

As at May 10th, no mention of "Clichy" in auction description.
But £20-40 would probably still buy quite a few equivalent items direct from an Asian supplier!
