Hi,
Just got this - measure 5.5" high, green glass with blue, bubbles - see pictures.
Thickish glass, base clear glass approx. 1cm, ground smooth and polished, slight trace of a pontil scar.
possible uranium content- will check tonight! will post base picture later - didn't turn out well so will have to re-do it!
Any help appreciated!

mmmmm, that's yummy!
reminds me a bit of a Benny Motzfeld in term of the effect in the glass.
But mostly reminds me of my Czech Frantisek Koudelka vase - Prachen (don't know if yours might be by him though)
What is the base like - pontil mark finish?
m

not my area, but like m I was also going to suggest Benny Motzfeldt perhaps - (Randsfjordglass - Norway - late '60's) for this type of bubbled work - think he did both hot and cold worked rims, but not sure about the shape being his.
I did think more recent Chinese maybe, but would they have the clear casing?? :-\
-
Looks much like Reijmyre too - just never come across this in green, only light blue.
-
Pictures of the base.
No uranium content.
Thank you for all your suggestions, any websites I can check out?

Thanks for the extra pics.
Hard to tell from photographs sometimes, but the base isn't like any Benny M's I have, nor as far as I know like any Frantisek Koudelka. Is the foot applied separately btw?

I've looked at all the suggestions and whilst there are similarities none of them look quite right.
I don't think the foot is applied, it looks like part of it (the vase / bottle) but just in clear about 1cm deep - not sure of the the technicalities of how it would be made!
I was sort of thinking it was British perhaps 1930's but I might be way off in that :D
Is it purely a decorative piece or would it have been for something?

My first thoughts were Koudela for Prachen, but I don't know if he did this shape or this colourway.
It does not remind me of the lady, Benny Motzfeldt's work - not her sort of shape - she went a bit lumpy and craggy rather than sculptured like this.
But the base is not the same as my Prachen - it has a round polished pontil scar on a shiny but not completely flat base - it has concentric rings in the surface.
-
I don't get the feeling this is British from the '30's - the base finish is way too lacking in quality - in my opinion - in fact that base doesn't have a look of quality at all - sorry.
quote from Sue..............."the lady, Benny Motzfeldt's work" ....... thanks for your correction Sue :-[
no reason why you couldn't use this as a vase - although you'd not get many stems in the opening, and stability might be a bit dodgy. :)
But it's attractive.
-
I have just noticed you say it it a tiny wee thing!
just 5.5 " tall.
Is there any evidence of wear inside the neck? Could it be a stopperless perfume?
(my Prachen is 36 cms)
-
No, that was one of my first thoughts - small decanter or perfume bottle missing a stopper but no sign of it ever being that!
-
I agree with Sue, not Benny M, but it did remind me of hers because of the colours and lovely bubbles :)
Ivo, what do you think of the base finish v Reijmyre now pics have been added? It's been a long time since I looked at all these, but I do remember looking them up because of that Biot bowl I had in blue.
There should be a thread on here somewhere Orange, with posts from Ivo on Reijmyre and Biot I think if you use the search button in the Glass section. That might throw up some more ideas.
The base is a bit odd I think. Not what I was expecting to see (some sort of pontil mark finish) - I'm wondering if it might be more 'contemporary' maybe. I love the colours and bubbles and the way they are formed.
