Title: 2 Vintage Roemer Glasses w/ Enamel Eagle - Czech? German?
Post by: Patti3435 on May 14, 2014, 02:55:24 PM
Hi. Found these 2 glasses at a sale recently. Both are hand painted wth a heavy enamel paint and stand 7 1/2" tall. Can anyone tell me if these are most likely Czech? Or possibly German? Any idea as to the maker. Thank you for any help offered.

That is very German - possibly from  Ehrenfeld who were big on heraldic decoration. Could also be from Saxony, Silesia or even Austria. Germany can we have your votes, please?

Hi, I would also say German. The coat of arms is that of the city of Frankfurt am Main. It should be a little bit older than "vintage". Here is a similar one offered by a German dealer: http://www.glaswolf.de/Historismusroemer-mi.292+B6YmFja1BJRD0yOTImcHJvZHVjdElEPTIxOTk1JnBpZF9wcm9kdWN0PTI5MiZkZXRhaWw9.0.html He dates it to the 2nd half of  C19. It is a typical "Historimus" piece. Unfortunately he does not attribute it to some specific producer.
