Title: Studio glass vase, signed "B..." and dated 1987
Post by: rocco on May 22, 2014, 05:20:44 PM
Studio glass vase, height and diameter appr. 14 cm, quite heavy.

Base ground and unpolished, with engraved signature (which is almost impossible to see, or read -- "Bu..."?) and the date 1987.
I tried the pencil and paper method :)

The piece is nicely made I think (doesn't look amateurish to me), thick clear casing with inclusions and some silverchloride on the surface, giving a soft iridescence. Semi-opaque inner casing.

Any help highly appreciated as always!
Thanks,
Michael

Polite bump :)
Anyone dares a guess what it should read?

I can read BUM57... 1987
but I'm probably wrong.

Thank you Sue!
I was reading approximately the same -- Bun570 and 1987
Though I assumed that the first word should probably not include numbers, so something like "Bunsto"? (which doesn't make much sense either, and googling many different combinations didn't come up with anything).

Am I seeing things, or does the whole design remind a little of some Isle of Wight ranges from the 1980s?

The design does, but not the shape - or really the fact that there are protrusions of enamels sticking out from the surface.
I did wonder if it might be from the "artist's shelves" at IoWSG though...
I read BUM not BUN! :-[
