Title: 1980 Whitefriars garland weight with "ILN" cane?
Post by: LesBeatiques on May 28, 2014, 08:28:48 PM
Good day,

If this has already been discussed I apologize but does anyone know what the central "ILN" cane on this 1980 Whitefriars weight means. The 1980 monk cane is embedded in the pattern and the weight rests on the typical button base which is hand etched "1/250".

Thanks,
Eric

I believe it stands for "Illustrated London News".

Hi Eric,
Wuff is quite right that it is Illustrated London News. This design appears to be the most common one to bear this cane although I have another centred on a "star" design. I would be surprised if 250 were made as I believe these are relatively rare.

Cheers,

Tony
