Title: Mid century cased glass bowl help
Post by: mitko07 on June 09, 2014, 02:47:44 AM
Hello everybody !
I am having hard time identifying the type of glass of this nice bowl... ???
It is made of three thin layers of glass- black, white and red
It is hand made and is very thick and heavy at the bottom. The bowl weight ~3 pounds and is 5.25 inches high x 8 wide.
The rim is nicely finished.
here are some pictures!
Thanks!
Dimi

I don't recognise it, but would suspect later than the middle of last century.
I can't help wondering if it might have been made using a centrifuge - my first suggestion would be to look for manufacturers that used centrifuges.

Nazeing had hold of Dartington's centrifuges for a short while, but I really don't know if your bowl can be attributed to either of them.

Thanks for the tip kisslikeether!
It is Holmegaard indeed - more recent that I thought.
I found very similar the style is called Cocoon and designed by Peter Svarrer in Denmark.
best regards!
