Hello... I'm interested in this vase that is listed as Loetz Astglass. I cannot find this color referenced on Loetz.com and am skeptical due to what appears to be a rough pontil. Does anybody recognize this or have an idea what it may be?
Thanks
Rick

Colour is fine for Loetz Mimosa (pink or rosa): http://loetz.com/decors-a-z/mimosa-rosa
The pontil mark has been polished out - this is exactly how I would expect it to look.
Here is the ebay listing: Click Here (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MUSEUMPIECE-SUPERB-ANTIQUE-LOETZ-TIFFANY-ERA-RED-ASTGLASS-VASE-BY-LOETZ-FABULOUS/171358156745?_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D22869%26meid%3D7655821169174756650%26pid%3D100033%26prg%3D9837%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D171358156745)
Do you have permission to publish the sellers photographs here? If not they will need to be removed as they will breach both copyright laws and this boards policy.

Here is one described as Vasart !! ;D

Yes John, the color closely matches the pink Mimosa, but the vase doesn't have the luster finish as the Loetz pieces, so I don't believe it's Mimosa. After looking at the Vasart pieces, I agree with Roberta that it's most likely that. My only question now is, are Vasart pieces collectible and a worthwhile investment? Thank you both for your input.

Roberta... After doing some more research, I'm confused again. The Vasart Cloisonné pieces appear to have a smooth finish as opposed to the textured finish on the one I posted. Also, if I understand correctly, Vasart pieces are signed. Can you help shed some light on this?
Thanks Again

The ebay link is NOT Vasart; that was Roberta's point

Thank you Christine - glad you got it! ;D
Maybe I should be clearer in future!

The lack of iridescence in the ebay sellers photos is simply a result of their photographic method. Iridescence will show up when light is reflected of the surface of the glass. The seller has not captured this effect because they used a white background, as a result the light reaching the camera has passed through the glass not reflected of it. Note the relative levels of iridescence in the following photograph.
The vase in question looks spot on for a bit of Loetz Mimosa as far as I am concerned. If I was selling it I would have little doubt as to the attribution, a really good search may throw up a vase with this same shape in another Loetz decor - that would be the icing on the cake for me. The seller has included a couple of references but I don't have those books to check. In my opinion the vase is overpriced, if I was selling it I might hope for about half that asking price, saying that it is a good size and an excellent shape so maybe a bit more. Time will tell - it is an auction...

Thanks so much John! I can definitely see the difference in the 2 pictures you attached, that makes things so much clearer. Being that the starting price is $500.00, I don't think I'll be able to get it for less, but I'm going to message them to see if they'll consider a lower offer. Thanks so much for your help.

I'd been wondering about the vase that Orange linked to - saw it or similar a long time ago and thought it might be Kralik because of the shape and the way the colour is done I think.
Is the shape confirmed as Loetz please?
I think I'm looking at the right page - ref of page 42 Das Bohmische Glas band iV - but that doesn't have that shape, colour or the same type of crackle on that page at all -bit mystified but perhaps the other reference has it maybe?
It reminded me of this one in terms of colour and the way the crackle is done - or is it just me?

Talk about putting the cat amongst the pigeons m! ;D
The shape does appear to be the key but no confirmation yet.

sorry :) I didn't mean to, but I had been watching this piece months ago and checking and searching.
I'm dredging my memory to see whether it was established it was a Loetz shape somewhere or not.
Will check again later when more time.

I still can't remember where I saw whatever it was - I seem to recall it was on Collectors W site but I can't find it anywhere on there now.
I did find this though where the Alfredo says that Fan shaped top for the vase on my link below is Kralik and that the fan shape also appears on 'Rindskopf vases. I don't know whether there is any new information around on that point though.
