Really don't know about this ::) It's 2 3/4 inches in diameter and 2 1/4 inches tall. Slightly concave base with quite a bit of age. Any help would be great, cheers and thanks for looking. :)

Hi Baked-beans
This looks like a Baccarat rock weight.
As far as I know they were produced from the 1850's and some rattle.
Try shaking yours !
Hope this helps

Are you kidding !? :o

Hi Mike
Kidding about what??
Its antique Baccarat and known as a rock or sand dune weight
I was slightly out on the date - Baccarat are thought to have started making them around 1880 and they continued until WW1.
And yes some of them rattle although neither of mine do.
HOWEVER dont think you have struck gold as these typically sell for just a fraction of the price of a "standard" Baqccarat antique weight.
Best regards
Derek

Air pockets around the rocks?

Thanks very much indeed Derek for the information , it was the rattling bit I thought amusing ;)
Mine doesn't rattle either . I found it at a car boot sale and only paid a few pounds . Not a very attractive paperweight in my eyes !
