You have to put them on one at a time, a shot of the rim and base and dimensions, in future someone might have the same piece of glass and it will easier for them and others to identify.  The clue sometimes to identify a bit of glass might be in the base, the rim, the dimensions the texture, the wear, the damage, the technique used to make it,  not just the overall look. I  have about 500 bits of glass i have no idea who made them, it really is that difficult sometimes. regards Chris.

I think i might take a pick of all 500.

thanks for your reply Bruce,

i am not a pro glass collector, maybe someone recognizes a shape on a piece they maybe have seen before or own.
i just buy glass i'm sort of attracted too, i can't buy expensive pieces on auctions like some people do, so i keep searching thriftshops and the like for new items. Identifying glass is a very hard job, and some people are very good at it. just not me.
i will keep the things you said in mind next time i post something, gotta learn everyday.

have a nice day

You don't have to buy expensive glass at auctions, if your patient and have an eye you can pick up some really beautiful bits of glass for next to nothing once you know what your looking for, if you read the replies on this site and have a love for glass you can pick up the knowledge and tips to be able to get ahead of the auctions and build a collection up relatively cheap, the last couple of days i have found glass from the Georgian period, Victorian, Edwardian, right up to modern day contemporary glass, most on here are collectors and it's all voluntary.

Good luck with your collecting and put them on one at a time, there are some very experienced collectors on here, and once they have seen something they do not forget and if they know the answer it could be 5 years before you get a reply or 5 minutes.

Following on from Bruce's wise words, we also need the images to be attached to your topic please, as images hosted elsewhere get lost over time and then we can never provide an answer. Images on the board stay here forever, so we never give up looking. :)
