Michael's Martinuzzi dolphins post has inspired me to show this bowl. Both lovely and such very different items, only separated by two or three decades. :o
This alabastro geode is 16cm in diameter, 4cm high and heavy at 2kg. The alabastro/amethyst/alebastro combination produces striking visual effects.
This colour combo can be seen in a different geode bowl (top left) on page 77 in Archimede Seguso Lace & Stone by Leslie Pina, several bowls with the same form on page 80.

Fabulous! (And beautiful pics as always :) )
I have never seen these alabastro geodes before...
So Leslie Pina's other books seem to be quite helpful, her "Italian Glass" is rather annoying with the many misattributions...

Thanks Michael. I don't have a copy of her Italian Glass but I have found her books on Fratelli Toso and Archimede Seguso useful.

I can only agree with Rocco. ::)
Wonderful, unusual piece, photographed to show every teeny tiny nuance of the beast at its best.

In Pina's "Italian glass" there are 2 Skrdlovice pieces, one (a Stahlikova/Veliskova vase) described as Gaspari for Salviati, the other as Archimede Seguso.
Plus the >> infamous Gordiola five spout vase (http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,16648.msg270135.html#msg270135) as Zecchin for Venini.
Stil a lot of nice glass to look at in it...
