Title: Vasart/Monart similarities

I’m curious about this Monart vase on ebay at the moment:

I have a signed Vasart vase that is exactly the same (well as close as something handmade can be)

I know Monart and Vasart are often similar – but is it usual for them to be the same? Or, as usual, am I missing something here?

I shouldn’t even be looking through ebay as I have so many other things to do…  :shock:  :roll: *thinks of numerous feeble excuses*

Well spotted! The difference of a label, I have asked the seller what the coding on the label is - I bet the shape code is worn off :lol:

It is of course Vasart not Monart.

Label is added, colour code is wrong, size code missing and only an E showing for shape.

I think unreasonable for such a common piece in that colouring. It seems that there are Monart collectors that do not visit us :roll:


No mind reading involved, it is a favourite trick of certain unscrupulous dealers. More commonly the code part is torn off, then the label split in two and fixed to two pieces. The labels are usually from broken fruit set dishes which have a high rate of label survival but these fays tend to turn up with at most one label per set.
