Title: Monart Shape BB size VII? for show
Post by: orangeglass on July 12, 2014, 11:42:47 AM
hi all,
Part one of my latest purchases  ;D ;D
Shape BB size VII? (does the diameter on Ysart glass for sizing mean the fattest part of the body or the rim?) Clarification anyone please!
5 1/8” high, 5 1/8” diameter of top rim, 7 ¾” diameter at widest part of body.

Typical ground outer edge of rim with partially ground “button” pontil scar.
Very heavy glass, lots of colours: yellow, orange, teal blue, dark royal blue, green, uranium green, pinkish reddish colour! No idea what the colour code is – anyone seen this before?
Unfortunately got a crack across the base but it was a bargain and I think it looks fantastic!
Sorry about the state if it – it has quite a lot of paint blobs and is dirty (Why do people not put glass away before decorating – I can’t believe how many things I get with emulsion speckles on!)
Will get round to cleaning it later.
(I will also add it into the Monart uranium post when I get some glowing pics!)
Thanks for looking,
Roberta

Stunning colour scheme in a nice shaped bowl. I believe the diameter is taken from the widest part of the bowl.
As for the colour scheme it is not among the commonest colour scheme, link below shows one from the ex I Turner collection.

I was looking through them earlier and the CC one was the one I came up with too as closest in colourway !
I've got a couple more hopefully quite interesting pieces to put on show later   ;D

Fingernails are the best thing for getting paint spots off, emulsion or gloss.
It's fiddly and fussy, but you won't damage the glass.

Not so good for your manicure, but that will recover.

Manicure? What manicure!!

Got it cleaned up now - there was half a tin of emulsion inside it!
Another useful tip - I always use a bit of lighter fluid on a soft cloth to remove sticky label glue - works a treat.

I'll put it on my shopping list, thanks!
Some label glues are a nightmare, especially the type where the label comes off, but the glue stays. It moves around though and the more you try to get it off, the further it spreads over the glass...
