hi i am definitely no expert i buy what i like then try to find something about it, this on has me puzzled tho.
bought this a while ago thought it might have some age. i was led to believe the rule of thumb that have handles that start at the top are older. dont think it is machine threaded . rough pontil could it be early victorian or am i totally wrong and made last year lol.
thanks

the bottoms of those handles look to be just a little overdone - on C19 pieces the final squiggle doesn't normally appear quite like that.
The other thought I'd offer is that the pontil scar looks possibly as though it might have been created by breaking away from a hollow pontil road - when cracked off, hollow rods tend to leave an irregular, but circular looking scar rather than a solid break. If correct, this would suggest a non-British origin.
Could well be threaded glass decoration, but if very irregular then presumably not machine threaded.
Top down handles are usually defined as occurring prior to c. 1860 ish - but am sure there are modern copies meant to deceive - but in any event I don't think this would be early Victorian - late perhaps, but not early.
Sorry that I can't offer any positive or more helpful comments. :)

brilliant thanks ivo and christine
thanks so last year it was lol

I would give it about 40 tot 50 years - it looks from the time of Bernardo Gordiola Manera - though it is hard to pinpoint precisely.

And for a bit of confirmation on the Gordiola ID ... see my photo at:

My vase has many "Gordiola features", including the ribbed shaped body, neck trailing, and "top down" applied handles ... and also what may be the same amber colouring.

I always think Gordiola has a slightly "off" Victorian style, like its trying to hard to look old.

been making glass since 1719 so if it looks old it is not for trying.
