Title: Help With Art Glass Signature Identification Please.

I have this beautiful modern mid century opal large bowl. The bowl  is nicely etched "SVA" and I am not sure who made this art glass. Great quality!
Now there has been a few appear in the last few years with this exact marking and some have numbers also. Some people are saying that these are glass pieces came from the School of Visual Arts in New York and this is incorrect. I even contacted the school and no glass has ever been made there.
I found this Early 20Th C American Art Glass Oil Lamp Signed SVA/ 7118 that was offered on line and it has the same marking w/numbers. Very old oil lamp.

Any help please would be great I am determined to find out who made this glass.

A shot of the bowl might help.

The SVA mark is almost certainly not a makers mark, possibly retailer. Many pieces with the mark are not high quality and modernish with the mark appearing Dremelled on some. How is the lamp marked, looks to be painted/enamelled on? Cannot tell how the bowl is marked from your picture.

Thank you Frank for your help. I have taken some more pics of the bowl. I have collected Murano, Venetian and mid century glass for years and this bowl in my opinion is very nice quality glass. Nice polished base and the bowl it's self is quit heavy. The marking was done professionally not some cheap script mark.  I contacted the auction house that sold the oil lamp and it was a few years back but they said the oil lamp was documented as very fine quality glass but not sure on that. They also had documented the marking was script in the bottom but thats all they could tell me.

I am just puzzled over this glass Frank but hopefully this info will help you.

Amazing piece. Hopefully someone has more ideas on that. Certainly to different to be very likely related to the lamp. Puzzling mark

I had understood that this signature was from the School of Visual Arts in New York City and may well be worth you following up this thought, although I should say that there are some that have said that the school does not have a glass studio. In addition,  I have to say that some of the works I have been looking at seem somewhat well executed to have been produced by students.

This shows a link to some glasses with the same sig. , but if you have contacted the School of Visual Arts and they say that glass hasn't ever been produced there then it's a bit of a mystery ! They do say 'possibly' however, in this link .

Sig varies in quality, retailer seems most likely with museum as an outsider. Whoever heard of museum engraving, etching or dremelling!

but with the apparent large time frame why is it not documented?
