Hi there,
I'm going through my collection as, sadly, I need to have a downsize and I found this piece which I had bought over 10 years ago. I know nothing about it at all though I don't think it is completely modern (pre-1980's I guess). It has a pontil scar and is possibly Italian (Murano?)... The mouth is open and it is hollow inside. Also inside is a dark patch which may be dirt (have not tried to clean it yet!) but shows through as an iridescent 'stain' so I'm not sure. Measures approx. 5" x 6". The rest is evident from the images:
Thank you as always,
Vx

It has a lot of "hallmarks" of contemporary far eastern glass, I'm afraid.
I wouldn't like to try to decide between Indian or Chinese.

Thank you - it's not one of the ones I'm selling, just happy to be clearer on its' origins for myself. A really fun piece to own and the colours are lovely!

That is the best and only reason for having glass - to enjoy it.
An interesting thing one can say about glass is that nothing is really ever a "fake". You have the original piece in your mitts when you hold it, and it is just what it is - a piece of glass you love.
I don't know if the dark matter inside it should be there or not. You could try giving it a soak in diluted biological washing liquid to see if it gets rid of it.
Alternatively, you could put some jam and water inside it and use it as a wasp trap. ;) ;D

:) Much appreciated!

I've been thinking about it, and reckon, because of the blobs of colour in the rabbit's extremities, it is more likely to be Indian than Chinese.
It has a very peculiar expression on its face, looks as if it is straining a little bit! (or reminds me of a donkey braying)
It is a really fun thing. :)

Hahaha! Yes, he's got some character. I've never found another like him and he's found a happy home with me. I seem to have a soft spot for strange glass creatures and this one sits well on the shelf next to some equally odd birds!
Thanks for your time today ;)

It looks the same as my crack pipe, which was also probably from India.
