This is a puzzler. This is supposed to be for a lamp and cannot figure out what kind it's for. Please help. They are pretty. But puzzling. Thanks for looking

They look like Late Victorian oil lamp chimneys, here is my last surviving oil lamp, i used to collect them, good at Christmas for some atmosphere but turn the paint work black and no good for the health.

I'm not sure I'm seeing anything that suggests these are deco style, but I very much like the color of them. Agree that they would greatly cut the amount of light coming through them compared to ones in clear glass. Perhaps they were used more for decoration than actually usable lighting? Also, is that some trace amount of what might have been a gold leaf decoration on them?

To me they look as if they might have been vanity lamp bodies (8" would be right for vanity lamps) missing the bases (probably glass) & metal end cap where the pipe runs through.

Ohio, I think you're spot on with your assessment. I used to design lamps for several companies and there were many columns similar to these that were offered by many glass companies.
