Title: Blue studio iridescent vase help please
Post by: brucebanner on August 07, 2014, 09:25:21 AM
Hello there another recent Ebay purchase described as similar to Isle of Wight glass, before i bid i spent half a shift at work going through the isle of wight web sites and found nothing similar, i bid anyway although i'm not sure if i like it or not.

It has a lot of wear to the base with a polished pontil and appears crudely made.n It's irregular in shape, the rim leans slightly to one side, and it   looks like the base has been put on separately. It's a heavy piece of glass 1.2kg which might account for the wear to the base.

It's 5 3/4 inches in height and roughly 6 inches in width and very tricky to photograph.

Thanks, Chris.

It has a look of Guernsey Glass, but that's usually marked

I nearly bid against you on this one!  Very nice but I couldn't place it either. I wonder whether it mightn't be French.. the shape, foot and pontil remind me of a piece I owned some years ago. But that's a guess and sadly I never did discover the maker.
