I have owned this a set of beer glasses with an etched football player on it forever - and have never been able to establish approximate time, club or perhaps even individual. The football union whom I asked are 404 - they could not be blonder.
Can anyone suggest an approximate date?

The style of kit looks like between late-1930s to early-1950s. Striped shirts are common - did you know, BTW, that Juventus copied Newcastle United's black and white stripes? Thought not... ;)

Maybe the style of ball could help - the shapes of the stitched panels have changed over time.

Surely it's got to be the legendary Sir Stanley Matthews in his Stoke City kit - he played for them on and off from 1932 to 1965. There were plenty of commemoratives produced in his lifetime.
