Post by: bat20 on August 24, 2014, 08:37:21 AM
Hi all, this weight is about 3" ht with a flat polished base and feels heavy with clear glass,"bought this years ago in a lovely little antique fair in France...",i was told, but i'm wondering if it's not Italian originally, any thoughts many thanks.

A splendid piece. Looks to be Murano from the second half of the 20th century.

The "frothy bubbles" may be an indicator of 1970s period from Ferro & Lazzarini.

I think this looks very much like a Gino Seguso weight, he used that mass of bubbles the flowers emerge from in the series of weights he made called Flowers of Enchantment and the flowers are similar too

I tell you what there's not alot in it between the two from the examples i've looked at,depending on the camera angles the Seguso ones look a bit flatter domed and wider based than the F&L weights with more chance of a bit of green and less tutti frutti type colour being used, the base on mine seems to look more like F&L's i've seen as well, but i really haven't seen enough of these types to tell by a long chalk.
