Post by: bat20 on August 24, 2014, 08:58:25 AM
Hi,this little piece has a greeny blue background with applied veining and some iridescence,it's 8cm high with wear to base it sits on,no pontil mark and the veins don't cover the base, any thoughts?many thanks

Yup, i haven't found the green background colour yet keith,it's so difficult to capture the iridescence but it's that sort of gun barrel blue in shadier parts of the room if that helps.

I haven't found a background colour like this one yet,but the veins seem just like some of the Kralic ones i've seen with the white colour threads running through,is that unique to kralic or were there other makers doing the same thing given it's not one of the top end makers.

Palme Koenig did veined but were a little more 'exotic' in design, in my opinion, ;D, close up of my Kralik veined piece....

Thanks keith, have you got veins underneath your bottom ;),i notice Palme koenig have white in their trailed glass as well so that theory is no good,it may have to stay as kralic"type" for a bit.

Yep,this piece and the inkwell I have both have veins on their bottoms, is that due to age  :o :o ;D

I think Kralik is spot on.

Looks like the same green glass in both these vases too, they appear to be different greens because of the differing iridescent finishes.

Thanks John, nice examples you have there and the background colour is what i was hoping to see,do you have a formula for photoing iridescent glass.

To show the iridescence you need light reflecting off the surface (instead of passing through the glass). I find a dark background helps - I used a sheet of black card in those photos. I put my lights next to the camera to provide plenty of reflection.
