Post by: simbaduke1 on August 27, 2014, 04:30:59 PM
Hi all,

I have come across a bucket shaped glass vase in purple, it has internal bubble dashes and a double thumb pressed pontil to base
its around 6 inches high and a thin clear bottom, looks a similar style to whitefriars but a unique double pontil, please can anyone give me heads up on maker, age, pattern, designer or any links or other knowledge of the piece, hope you can help guys

Regards SD

Is there much wear on the base?

I'm not sure what you mean in your description of the pontil mark and I can't see it clearly on your picture. On something like this it wouldn't be pressed; it would be snapped/broken, heat polished or ground to varying standards. You can't actually have a pressed pontil mark because it is where the pontil rod is broken away from the glass, though you might have a blob of glass applied over it with perhaps an impression on it.
