I have two in blue both marked Thomas Webb England.

They are on the stall so no other photo possible right now, they are just about visible top left in the second photo down, on the top of the odd corner cabinet: http://www.glassmessages.com/index.php/topic,57879.0.html

Afraid blue is one colour I'm not short of, now amethyst or green would be a different matter... ;D ;D ;D

Keith  -  can you detect any quality difference between those with an S and pieces without  -  irrespective of colour of glass?
I'm coming back to wondering if it did in fact denote a second.

Hello Paul, the green and amethyst are in perfect condition the only difference is that they are half inch shorter, blue height is 7.5 inches, with a 3.25 inch foot and the others are 7 inches high with a 3 inch foot, ??? ;D ;D

perhaps you're right then about the S denoting size. :-\

It would be strange if two 'seconds' came out with no faults and both with the same dimensions, maybe later production ?  ;D

But why no Webb mark if they were firsts? However, it would depend on how stringent they were with quality control - often we see such things as Caithness paperweights (marked CGII) which can have the smallest of blemishes. Perhaps we're not being critical enough?  ;D

Hello David, I've gone over both with a lens, no faults to be seen, maybe they were trying to save a bit of money by reducing the size, every little helps !  ::) ;D ;D

Found this today, the one on the left of the picture has the 'S' mark the other 'Thos Webb', difference in colour height and handle so it may well be a 'second'  ;D
