Title: Was this really a Murano?
Post by: Krecik on September 03, 2014, 03:05:26 AM

I had intended on bidding but the auction was changed from a $99 start to a $190 Buy it Now , probably at the request of the person who purchased it. Was it a Murano , I have not seen another like it ?

Hi.  Not Murano - Ysart (maybe Paul, given the lampwork).  I think the neck has been broken, and then polished down.

Yes Paul Ysart, in one of the pictures you can see the PY cane amongst the central flowers albeit at a bit of an angle.

Oh my! this is a really very nice (even with the damage/repair) and I suspect very rare PY bottle:

1. signed PY bottles are rare
2. White grounds for anything Paul Ysart are rare
3. Ysart bottles with the neck and well coloured come round now and then (see attached) but all the ones I have seen were exclusively decorated with millefiori and no lamp work (as it is on the Ebay item).

Whoever bought it hit the PY jackpot!!!

Hi All,
I spotted this Paul Ysart bottle about 12 hours after it was posted. I e-mailed the seller to ask for a BIN and went back to painting the back door. By the time I checked my e-mails again he had listed it at $190. I went straight to the item but it had already sold !!!!

Two hours later I got a favor (US) request from a friend in the USA asking for a confirmation on a purchase. She suspected it could be Paul Ysart. Low and behold it was the self same bottle.

I would have loved to have bought it but am glad that if I couldn't have it, my friend got it for that bargain price. When it was delivered she found the PY cane in the pink flower.

Cheers,
