Title: Doric & Pansy Depression milk jug.
Post by: Paul S. on September 04, 2014, 08:10:50 PM
this teal struck me as a cracking colour - stands out a mile compared to most milk jugs, so thought it worthy of a picture here.         This pattern seems to be a little better defined than other Depression patterns I've seen, some of which can appear less sharp.

From the Jeannette Glass Co., and if I have it right seems this pattern was made during 1937 and 1938 only  -  seems a very short-lived run, if that's correct.

Plenty here, so must have been seriously mass produced. And uranium too.

well, someone must have been listening to Christine........    went back to the same source and they'd obviously dug out some more - as you can see...
I especially like the large two-handled platter (?), and mostly in vgc.

going back again tomorrow ;)

What you want are the shakers or the butter dish; they are worth selling

Sorry, i lost half my message in the excitement. I had the great joy to be at an auction last night when a massive haul of American Depression glass came up for sale and i bought the lot- including the butter dish i also got the teal full sized milk jug and sugar bowl, a sundae dish and stand,, then in the green i got 3 sandwich trays, a dinner plate one salt, and a lot of Hazel Atlas pink Royal Lace pattern.

I think this must have taken the previous owner a long time to accumulate- seriously it took me 2 trips to collect it all.

Best of all- it was such a bargain.

Well i do love glass but i am not a specialist in American glass. I just thought the teal colour was very unusual and was very lucky that there was not an expert in the room. I bought all of it for under £20. Its going to take me quite a while to check it all and decide what to keep and what to sell. There are more than 30 pieces of glass and i don' t recognize all of it- i may be back later for advise!
