Title: 'Misty' the Caithness Moggy - for show
Post by: Anne E.B. on September 08, 2014, 03:13:37 PM
This is 'Misty' the kitten from Caithness' 'Moggies' range.  Signed by designer Sarah Peterson and handmade in a smokey grey colourway.  Current production.  She hasn't been at the goldfish in the last picture in case anyone wondered :)  She just reflected some nearby red glass ;D

Very, very cute - it's a simple design, but beautifully executed and SO effective.
Sarah seems to be quite a remarkable lady, capturing the admiration of many who know the field. I have been told that she has to come up with designs that all the makers can produce easily and well, for the "bread and butter" output from Caithness, but also far more special things.

I have never failed to be impressed with her sand cast sculptures, so much so that I treated myself to a very large one!
I was not surprised later on, to discover that she has trained with Bertil Vallien.

The gentleman (Bruce Walker, the engraver) who was telling me all this also told me she is basically single-handedly, holding Caithness together. I think she is probably "Saint Sarah" as far as he is concerned.  ;D
