Title: Frit Butterfly Glass Paperweight - speckled white/red ground- American..?
Post by: Greg. on September 17, 2014, 02:20:06 PM
Hi All,

Would welcome any thoughts on this paperweight with a vibrant coloured frit butterfly suspended above a speckled white and red ground.

Plenty of age related wear to the base. Snapped pontil mark, which has a very small hole around 2mm in the centre.

Height: 6.5cm
Width: 6.7cm
Weight: 463 grams

All thoughts appreciated.

Many thanks
Greg

Probably made at Pilkington in St Helens. There's more on here and I have a whole collection, which can be seen on my website

Many thanks Christine, much appreciated, thought it rang a vague bell. Managed to find a very similar example in a group photo of Pilkington weights in the GMB archive.
