Title: Possibly not Chinese?
Post by: Mr. Turnip on September 18, 2014, 05:58:26 PM
Have just acquired these two rainbow lovelies. Really nice colours and condition. And for a change there are some signs of ageing on the bases, and the ground pontils are nice 'n shiny. So not at all matte in appearence! I reckon they are probably Czech as the colours are very nice and a bit Chribska-ish. I'm guessing by the scratched bases they could be 1960s. Small one is 200mm and larger one is 230mm. I wasn't so keen on these when I got them but once washed and put in the daylight they're really nice.

Any information welcome, I've not been able to find anything on 'net or in my reference books.

I might start with Japan for that colour palette; Hineri, Kamei?

Thank you Lustrousstone, well there's a thing! Wouldn't have thought of that - I know almost nothing about Japanese glass. Looking at the Google images I see what you mean about the colours. I also have at least one other vase which may also be Japanese then.
