Hello everyone. Can anyone please tell the pattern name on this Stuart Crystal glass?
Thanks
-
hello Tarquin - welcome to the GMB. Regret I don't immediately recognize your glass pattern, although someone on the GMB might know.
There are many thousands of designs/patterns of cut glass, and whilst waiting for an answer you might care to have a look at the Stuart section on replacements.com - it may surprise you when you realize quite the vast quantity of different patterns there are.
This is a States based glass and ceramics replacement source, in Carolina, I think.
Factories such as Stuart (British) have changed the shape/look of their backstamp over the years, and seeing exactly the appearance of the word on this piece might help to be able to suggest a period of manufacture.

Hi Paul,
Thank you for your prompt reply. I have looked at ALL of the Stuart patterns on the website and though a few look very similar, none identical. The glass is from the 1970's so has no stamp or markings. I've seen some with the 5 leaf design but struggling to find one like mine with the extra leaf set higher in-between.

this does beg the question Marcus - what makes you suggest Stuart - other factories such as Edinburgh, Webb Corbett, Thomas Webb, Waterford and possibly others, indulged in very similar cut patterns.
Of course, you may know that it came out of a Stuart presentation box.
The date alone does not mean there won't be a backstamp - most of the factories I've suggested did mark their wares at that period (and some still do) - although a small proportion of pieces always seem to escape the backstamp. It may well be any one of these makers, and simply have been one of the few that weren't marked.

You sure this is not Edinburgh crystal ?.

Hi Bruce. I was told it was Stuart, but i have no knowledge on crystal glass!!! I have been left a large collection of crystal and china and i'm trying to find out what it all is. I've sourced a lot of it as Stuart Cheltenham, but wasn't sure about this.
-
I don't know if it helps but all pieces have a 16 point starburst on .the bottom

I believe that a lot/most of recent Edinburgh production was made in Czechoslovakia - think it's marked as
'Edinburgh International' - so perhaps much of this hasn't yet found its way onto the Replacement sites.
I wouldn't have thought that a 16 point star was indicative of one particular maker.

This company:
http://www.replacements.com/
can and will identify almost any crystal stemware.
Just follow the directions on their site and they will get back to you with a name and replacement cost.
Good luck,

It looks like Edinburgh crystal Balmoral from your pick there are a few on google same pattern, regards Chris.

20th C Czech or Murano (Italy), difficult to tell where they were made, as similar items were made in both countries
