Hi all, this little vase is about 4" ht with a not very central polished pontil and wear to the base with applied glass and red berries on the neck,i'm wondering if this is a Kralic decor ,any thoughts many thanks....Just to add,the rim is rounded not flat polished.

Interesting item, I gather until recently that these were believed to have been produced by Kralik, however are now thought to have possibly been produced by Loetz. I gather this decor is also shown in Passau, according to the info outlined in German in the second link below.

From memory I vaguely recall a very similar example with this threading and similar jewelled like decoration, but with a mother of pearl finish. I have seen these similar mother of pearl variations described as both Kralik and Loetz. I presume these may be different to the above examples, however, would hang fire for further opinions.

Thanks Greg that is interesting,i have to say i've done it no justice with the photo's as there is a purple iridescence on the clear handles and just generally more depth.

Interesting pieces which deserve an attribution. I've seen these with both ground pontil marks and also moulded bases, which I think adds to the confusion. Would be interested hear Craig's views on these. :)

I would have to say that I would say that I believe this is an example of Loetz production.
Nice find....

Thank you both,i love it and you have to wonder what was in the water back in the day,but that's probably something to do with our minimalist aesthetic of today.

I own a number of pieces of this period's glass, that if you did not know what they were, you would swear they were contemporary pieces of glass based on lines and designs....

I see what you mean Craig having had a good look around now, with the caveat there hasn't been a new shape for a few thousand years now and what is thought of as clean contemporary shape you'll no doubt find a Chinese potter was knocking out some time ago. :)
