Title: Car boot find today.
Post by: Nick77 on October 12, 2014, 10:10:35 AM
Picked this slightly battered weight up today with some rather nice lamp worked flowers, I believe it's either Silesian or Thuringian and late 1800's, am I right?

Hi Nick,

Beautiful piece! I love the flower canes. With the center cane being paneled and having a ruffled edge I'd say probably Murano and the flower canes are reminiscent of Toso. We'll see what others have to say.

Hi.  I agree with the Murano attribution (though I understand why one might think Silesian).  The centre cane is typical mid 20th century Murano, and I am sure I have seen similar flower canes in Murano pieces from that era.

Thanks both, the frit base and lots of fine bubbles in the glass made me think of early Silesian/Thuringian rather than Murano, sadly it has some bad chips and bruises around the perimeter.
