I found this buried in a junk pile behind my house, there was a dark cobalt blue one with it, but it was broken into multiple pieces. It is 14 inches long 3 sided the top/bottom opening is flat with no threads the glass is 3/8 inch thick, the point is rounded, and could not stand on its own without some kind of wide base. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I know this pic is not very good, I am going to get some better pics today, this was just done from my iphone quickly. I will post the additional pics tomorrow that will including scale and precise measurements.

Hi, and welcome to the gmb. :)
Looking forward to better pics - glass isn't the easiest of subjects for photpgraphy. ::)
Would you please use a plain white background, (just some plain sheets of A4 paper would do) that will show up the colours of the glass much better, a clear pic of the rim would be useful too.
If you have other bits of glass for identifying, we do like images of the bottoms, even if there is nothing there, we can tell a lot from the "sort of nothing" it is.
I'm afraid I'm clueless about your piece - perhaps it might be an old lemonade bottle?

There is no bottom per say, the only flat portion is the top opening and the sides, the piece has no identifying marks at all on any surface. I will take note on your photo tips, I knew this was a bad pic, but wanted to get the item out in front of people for their review. I am working on getting the material (Dirt/gunk) out of the inside using some hot water and dish soap detergent soaking, and will have more pics to show tonight or tomorrow morning. Thanks for your input.

Biological washing liquid is really good for getting organic gunk out of glass. Just let it soak for a while in lukewarm water.
You can get little copper ball bearings (they're called "Magic Balls") to put into vessels for shaking about and loosening surface stuff, or you could just use some rice if that's easier and to hand.
To dry a bottle such as this, rinse it with distilled water after the tap stuff and stick a "wick" of kitchen roll into it after draining it out. This will absorb the water as it evapourates inside, later you can just remove the wick and it should be completely dry inside.

Here are some better pictures, including Size, still working on getting it cleaned up some but this is a better representation of the object.

Welcome to GMB!
Could this be a car vase? 8)
-
I think thats definately a strong possibility, car vase missing the metal holder.
-
Seems rather large for a car vase to me. ::)
-
Though broken, could you tell if the cobalt blue one was the same shape and size?
-
I think this is a glass beer tap handle. :P

I think this is a glass beer tap handle. :P
Shape would certainly lend itself to that possibility though I would think a mechanical glass handle that would see contineous usage & varying pressure applied to it would be solid rather than hollow where breakage could result in injury to barkeep's hand, but maybe that was not a concern back then.
Odds are high we will never know exactly what function this piece served, but fun speculating.

The cobalt blue one was of similar size and was 3 sided like this one?

What we are engaged in are speculating/guessing possibilities & in all probability we will never know the exact purpose for the piece since its an oddball as in not a vase, bowl, candlestick, well known object, etc.

You're probably right about identifying this specifically, I was unable to find any "Car Vases" larger than 10" inches, and with this being 16" inches, I really don't think this is it, although I'm digging further to see if this perhaps might be part of a horse drawn carriage? As for a tap in a bar, I would expect to see some type of wear inside the neck opening where either a insert was attached to the actual tap to complete the handle, or wear on the outside of the neck opening if the tap was somehow attached to the outside with some type of tightening screw mechanism. Hopefully I'll get lucky and run into it in google pictures. Otherwise my girlfriend wants me to make a bracket for it and she is going to turn it into a Tiki Torch.
