Title: Cenedese Wading Crane- Elegant Bird!
Post by: jakgene on October 14, 2014, 09:32:43 AM
Received this beauty in the mail today - bought from New South Wales. Seller told me it had been his wife's parents and they had had it for about 50 years.
It screams Cenedese to me so I have named the file as such. I have also found a bird with the same base in the Murano Zoo which is labelled as Cenedese - that one is looking up, this one down.
Ebay Seller had advertised this as "Elegant bird" and I cannot think of a better description.

Was wondering if anyone knows who the designer was? Colouring looks like Da Ros, but the base with the wading legs encased in clear with the bits of green around is very reminiscent of the Licata aquariums. Did Licata "do" birds too?
It is 40 cm tall to top of head and approx 18 cm at widest point.
I think he's lovely!

Anita - if you would like pics for the Zoo please let me know - I can send higher resolution ones.
Jackie

I also emailed to Gino Cenedese e Figlio  direct to ask my questions.
They responded very quickly to say that the bird was desgined by Antonio Da Ros in 1960.

It's a lovely colour combination.  Is the amethyst neodymium at all?

Yes Jackie,  'Elegant' is the only word to describe this beauty.... what a lovely piece to own,  I confess a hint of jealousy.  ;)
