Hi. I would welcome ideas on who might have made the thistle paperweight shown below.
It is not of the highest quality: the bubbles in the garland are unevenly spaced; there is a dirty thread over the lampwork;and the blocking of the dome is rather rough and ready. But some care has gone into shading the leaves and shaping the head of the thistle. The small pontil scar with lots of saw lines around it suggests a small rod was used. The clear glass has a grey tinge to it. Diameter 3 inch / 77 mm; height 2 1/8 inch / 55 mm.
My thoughts point towards Ysart Bros....but I may well be wrong.

The pontil mark does look like "Salvador / Ysart Bros" rather than any other Scottish.
A similar weight, but not as neat, and without peripheral bubbles, was found a few years ago - and maybe was included in a PCC Newsletter.
Anyone recall the one I am thinking of?
