Title: Unsigned PY weight sells very well
Post by: KevinH on October 30, 2014, 04:25:01 PM
I had been thinking about bidding on this unsigned PY weight (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Superb-Antique-Millefiori-Flower-Bouquet-Paul-Ysart-Glass-Paperweight-/121467459222?nma=true&si=imkiFsGb3GMcCZRx7VNdEKp7pUE%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557) but eventually chose not to.

I had thought it might make upwards of £500 because of its bold colouring and less common design. But I did not expect it to make nearly £1,000!

A bouquet within a "half-spoke" garland is an uncommon design. But perhaps the six flowers + one bud, together with the very bold contrasting twists also assisted the winning bid?

Hi there Kevin.

Too rich for me, from early on in the bidding.  Looks like two late snipers nearly doubled the bidding right at the death.

On another PY weight, I would not have been surprised to see the following link fetch more:

Hi Keith,

Perhaps the high prices for PY Mice & Cheese weights may have passed. Certainly there was a time when two folk fought hard to secure a Triple Mouse with Cheese - and the price went really high.

Maybe next time one appears in the UK, I might have a chance at buying it?

:)

Hi.  Perhaps you have to pay 'per mouse'?
