Sorry if you get this all the time, but i was looking to see if anyone perhaps knew who this bowl was made by. It appears to be handmade, and it was given to me by a neighbour, so was just looking for some info if possible.a valuation might be handy but by no means necessary.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

I was once told by a dealer in Italian glass that they were by Venini its wasn't his so he had nothing to gain , but I have never seen proof . it is a tad like a Cardinals hat .

Welcome to the forum Todd.
Your bowl was made on Murano, I have one just like it that I believe dates from the fifties. This shape, sometimes called a 'cardinal's hat' has been made for a long time, so yours could be older (or newer) than mine.

Check for a signature which would be on the outside on one of the ribs; it should be an acid etched cursive mark saying "Italy" and is incredibly vague. I have one of these cardinal's hats in clear and aventurine which is early Cappelin Venini from the twenties. If there is no sig at all it may be a later version - apparently several glass makers in Murano have done cardinal's hats as well.
Oh - and welcome to the GMB.

There was no need to apologise, Todd (welcome!).
If folk don't ask questions, we haven't got any questions to answer; and that is the whole point of us being here. ;D
And a nice piece to start off with too, with the images all posted directly to the board and enlargable, thank-you. :)
