Title: Vsart /Monart glass? vase
Post by: brucebanner on November 09, 2014, 01:27:15 PM
Can anyone help me with this please, i think it might be Vsart glass but i can not find one this shape and i'm not sure how old it is, there is a lot of wear to the base and a polished pontil.

It's 8 inches in height, 6 3/4 across the rim and 4 1/8th inch across the base.

regards Chris.

I strongly suspect this is what we call "Cellophane Glass".
Bohemian, contemporary with Monart, maker unknown.
Lovely old glass, sightly unusual colours for Cellophane.

Frank invented the name - it's inspired by the similarity to the transparent colours of chocolate wrappers.

Autumny greens, oranges and ambers are more common, in my (limited) experience. :)

Mould-blown is a big giveaway, but only if you already know that.
I'm sure most Ysart collectors are fooled, to start off with, too.  ;D
