Title: Neodymium hand etched Courtiers glasses info please?
Post by: chriss on November 11, 2014, 09:39:45 PM
Hi Here's a pair of neodymium glasses which are hand (wheel?) etched with similar (but slightly different) courting courtiers in garden scenes, though the detail isn't fantastic, they are very nice. I think they are early Neodymium as they have the orange tinge which I think is found in earlier colour change glass, though they still colour change like modern Neodymium? There are no makers marks but I was hoping that someone may know something about them anyway please? Thanks :) Chris

These aren't great shots as I'm still trying to work out this camera, but it shows the colour change aspect of the glass  :)

If your glass shows yellow under black light then you're looking at manganese - in frequent use circa 1860-1915.   Neodymium as a glass colourant is not known before 1927.
