Title: Harlequin/fountain paperweight
Post by: Lustrousstone on November 30, 2014, 12:42:03 PM
Cane chips, three layers, rough base: I'm assuming Bohemia or Germany. Am I correct and if so, what age please? 2.75 in tall. 2.5 in diameter.

Hi Christine.  I think you can add Czechoslovakia and Belgium to your list of possible sources.  Regarding age, I would suggest 1900 to 1940 - but maybe a bit earlier?

Hello,

I would like to draw your attention to a source of paperweights, that was situated in the Sarre Region between France and Germany; in a place called Fenne the production of paperweights is assumed between 1900 and -+1939 and later, some of the output can be seen here:

Another possibility for attribution could be the region of West Styria in Austria, where the glassworks in Vordersdorf made similar pieces, calling the product "stacked crown" weights, containing up to five storeys- though, the spatter parts are finer and the colours not as bold as in yours,

Kind regards, E.
