Hi, for some time I have been watching this item-

I mean to see clearly that the P and the Y have different colour shades and may be "dropped" as well-

Bob Hall wrote something like "ham-handed" flower construction which would also fit in this case,
the center mille might even be a Paul Ysart cane, but the stem, the leaves, bottom- dubious....

Kind regards E.

I think you may be right - in the PY cane the letters do look to be different colours, and the letter shape too is dubious.
I also think the centre cane is a correct PY one - I have a weight which has the same (i think) cane in it! It must be one of those that "travelled".

Yes, the cane in the centre of the flower does seem to match one that has been used by both Paul Ysart and Vasart (and later) items.

Yes, the signature cane has different colours for the "p" and the "y".

Yes, the overall look of the flower and ground is not of the quality of Paul Ysart's work.

I contacted the seller with my views as soon as I saw the listing.

And I believe the weight was on eBay a few years ago - it already appeared in one of my lists of reference images.

Its a weight you look at and think immediately, bit scruffy for a genuine Paul weight.  Then you take a look at the PY cane and it verifies the fake impression.  Lets face it would it still be for sale if it were genuine. Take a look at a good PY example.   A few more examples might be nice to see.

The weight has been re-listed with title and description indicating it is a "copy".

I will not be purchasing it at half the price. It is not to Pauls standard.
Does anybody know where this weight is?
                 Regards Roger.
