This parrot seems fairly complex, hot worked with various colours and standing 13cm tall.
Any ideas about who might have made it would be most welcome.

What a conundrum!
The base looks Czech, the tree trunk looks Bimini, and the Parrot looks Murano.
Is it lampwork? At just over 5" tall, there is a lot of work in it.
I will keep searching for something similar to come back with.
It is nice and I do like it.

Good question, don't think so but not taking any bets! There is what looks like a spot on the front of the white base where it may have been attached to a small rod.
Something about it had me thinking Czech, the only vaguely Loetz-ey kind of feature is that green frit on the base.

I thought the frit reminded me of some of the Brychta pieces, hence my thinking it looked Czech.
Even lampwork use small rods either of metal or glass when the need arises.... but this is a stunning piece and I wish I could just say... oh yes that is by ... but I can't! :( But we will find out.

Page 182 in Charles Hajdamach's 'C20 Brit. Glass' discusses the history of the British company Pirelli Glass, who seem to have been quite big in these lampworked things in the 1950's and '60's.
Although they seem to have made some of their wares, they also imported material from 'Europe' but there don't appear to be any sources given - so dead end presumably.
Mention this as the b. & w. pix of Pirelli items in Hajdamach show pieces that have a distinctly exotic flavour, much like this piece.
It's possible that the more tropical looking examples could be Continental, as opposed to the reserved plain figures of rabbits, cats, chickens and horses which might have originated in the U.K.
Sorry, no nearer finding a maker.................. I'd give it away John and collect some real glass ;) ;)

It is way bigger and chunkier than your average bit of lampwork.

I wasn't being serious with the criticism John ;) what I know about most glass you could write on the back of a small postage stamp - but thought it worthwhile mentioning the Pirelli connection as yours does look very like the tropical/exotic pieces showing in Charles Hajdamach's book. Unfortunately, no scale available to judge the size of the book examples, but think they're probably a little bigger than usual.
As a kid I used to watch lampwork pieces being made on Southend-on-Sea pier and seafront - the guys sat in small booths hunched over a bunsen burner thingy with their coloured glass blanks, drawing out the molten rods into dachshunds, monkeys, poodles etc........ but don't remember seeing any palm trees. :)

Not Pirelli, which is well documented ;) but definitely lampwork. No idea who, but not the most skilled despite the amount of work put into it!

Lampwork it is then, I have very little experience of handling lampworked items and am happy to trust your knowledge on this Frank.

As far as I am concerned... got some outstanding near 30 years. I am sure others have older puzzles.
