Title: Wedgwood Crystal object - paperweight or...? ID = Dartington - candle lamp base
Post by: glassobsessed on December 11, 2014, 04:56:41 PM: Have we had one of these on the message board before?

It is solid and stands about 6.5cm tall (2.5"). With a loupe I can see that the remains of the label reads Wedgwood Crystal England. So it dates from the time period when Wedgwood and Dartington were cooperating. The smoke colour has a distinct lilac tinge which does not show up well in these photos.

So what is this object for, a paperweight or something else?

Post by: glassobsessed on December 13, 2014, 03:42:45 PM: A very kind person has been in touch (thank you T) to tell me that this is the base for a candle lamp, the Rory Two Piece Candlelamp FJT12. It is shown complete with shade, bottom right on page 182, Dartington Glass the First Twenty Years, so it will date to the mid 1980s. I missed it completely when I looked. :-X

I saw one in the cabinet in Cancer Research and I couldn't help them with what (on earth) it was. :-[

That charity shop was closed because it wasn't making enough profits. It was in profit - good profit, but apparently not enough. The local community was up in arms about it, but to no avail. :'(
