Title: Who Made this 15"diameter platter with controlled bubbles
Post by: cmdg on December 12, 2014, 01:47:04 PM
Hi,I have this large, flat glass platter that I wish to identify!.It measures 15 1/4" in diameter and has a shallow depression in the center, making a 'foot' below. It has a polished pontil mark and conciderable age wear to the base.It has a slight uranium glow under UV,and is an aqua-greenish colouring.
I would really  like to know where this was made and by whom!!.
Many thanks,Chris

No idea who made it but if it only has a slight glow, then it's not uranium. The slight glow will be manganese decoloriser

I think my shallow dish could well be part of the Perlora range by WMF, does anybody have a reference book or know of further info on the net about this glass?.I have trawled through Google and found some other pieces of Perlora, and the bubbles appear to be very much the same!.Any further advice will be appreciated.

There is one single catalogue page on Perlora in the WMF book; there are 4 platters: 21, 22, 24,5 and 30 cm. All of these are deeper and considerably thicker than your dish. The range of colours is limited to green, topas and goldruby - and wmf green is dark. So I am tempted to say: not Perlora.
These plates are not technically difficult, so it will probably remain unattributed. My first thought was Joska who did a lot of this type of work - but then again, so did a lot of other firms...
