Title: Grimware Jug set ID
Post by: Petefaulkner1978 on December 14, 2014, 04:57:03 AM
Jug set with 4 glasses. Looking for info and ID for the set. Any info would be helpful. All have "grimware" on the bottom.

hello Pete - welcome to the GMB :)

Might possibly help if you can say whether the name Grimware is on a label or if it's acid etched as a backstamp on the glass itself.
Regret I don't know of this name, and it may well be just a retail or wholesalers name rather than a manufacturer.
Do you know if this is cut glass or pressed  -  the sharpness of the design/pattern should make it possible to decide.               Did you source this in Oz.

Edited to add.....   it looks to be cut glass, but always worth being cautious :)

Thanks Paul,
Glass is etched with the name and it seems to be a cut design.
Pieces were purchased in Oz.
Thanks pete

I'm not aware of this being a back stamp for a British maker, although might be some obscure factory - but suspect more likely to be from elsewhere in the world.
Assuming very little wear, then probably (but not certain) of recent manufacture, and could be home grown pieces.
Fingers crossed someone might know the name.

Grimwade Crystal was a subsidiary of Crown Crystal in Sydney. I'll bet Grimware is a brand name from there.

It is not my area at all, but there is lots of information on Google about Grimwade Crystal.
